CHRISTMAS AT THE KEMP
*Free*

In fact your wait for the Jolly Old Elf will not have to be long because Santa and Mrs. Claus will be stopping off at the Kemp for some relaxation before that make their grand appearance at the City Lights Parade in Downtown Wichita Falls. It is a long trip from the North Pole and Santa hopes to get in a nap before all of the excitement. However, if there are children arriving anxious to see him, then he will be glad to visit with each and every one. Mrs. Claus will be making sure that everyone gets a yummy candy cane and a few minutes with Santa to give him their list of wishes.

As part of the fun, be sure and stroll the beautiful Sculpture Garden for a photo opportunity. Step into a scene that will be a wonderland for individual pictures or bring the whole family to be featured on your Christmas cards. If the weather permits, the lovely gardens are just a great place to relax and visit about your adventures you have enjoyed this past year, what gifts you need to purchase right away, or your plans for the coming holidays.

At the Kemp we know that each child is dreaming of an artistic Christmas and everyone is invited to participate in our new Studio Saturday where creating artwork is encouraged with all of the art materials provided. This Saturday, we are doing art projects in a big way. In the Great Hall there will be a huge “Discovery Zone” sponsored by the Alcoa/Howmet Foundation for you to design Christmas ornaments, gifts, and decorations. All of your creations can go on your Christmas tree, decorate your bedroom, or even be a surprise for someone special.

In the kitchen, Santa’s elves are cooking something very delectable for all of the boys and girls that is a favorite of Santa Claus. Let your nose lead you to the serving room as you smell the sweet scents and chocolate flavors of cookies and hot cocoa. Eat your fill and then go and settle yourselves in for the movie that will be shown on a huge screen.

While you enjoy your refreshments, Muppets: A Christmas Carol, will be presented so that everyone can snuggle in with loved ones to learn the spirit of Christmas and the true meaning of giving, sharing, and loving those in your life. This edition is a long- time favorite that can tickle your fancy and touch your heart.

For more information please contact Ashleigh at ashleighp@kempcenter.org or call 940.767.2787. This is a wonderful event that is offered free to all through the kind donations of those who support the programs of the Kemp Center for the Arts.
