This Week’s Event Highlights: June 11 – 17

Editor’s Note: There are a TON of recurring summer events happening – particularly at The Kemp Center for the Arts and the Wichita Falls Public Library. For this week’s post, we will stick strictly to one-time events happening this week.

Tuesday, June 12: Summer School Supply Drive at Jump for Joy

Now through August 28, EVERY Tuesday; if you bring in ANY SCHOOL SUPPLY, you can jump around for $5!!! EACH JUMPER MUST BRING A SCHOOL SUPPLY TO QUALIFY FOR PRICING!!!!! The end of August we will take them all to the School Board. If this goes over well, we will do this through out the school year 2018-2019. Help us give back to our teachers!!!!!

Friday, June 15: Night Hike & Scavenger Hunt

Have you ever hiked at night? Join a park ranger for this hike and along the way, we will have a mini scavenger hunt to learn about some of the critters that come out after dark. This night hike will be along parts of the Onion Creek Trail and disc golf course. Round-trip distance is a bit under 1 mile. Meet: At the Equestrian campsites. Parking is available there.

What to bring: A flashlight (red light if possible but not required). Please dress for the weather, wear good shoes for hiking, and bring water. Insect repellent is recommended.

This program is free to attend with paid park entrance ($4 per adult, kids 12 and under are free).

Saturday, June 16: NWTFS Annual Kid Fishing Rodeo (10 am – noon)

The Northwest Texas Field & Stream (NWTFS) will host the Annual Kid Fishing Rodeo from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm at the pond located in front of the NWTFS office at 2005 Southwest Parkway.

This is a FREE event and kids are encouraged to bring their own poles and bait if they have them. For those who need them they will be provided.

A complimentary lunch will be served at 12:00 noon, which will include hot dogs, chips, and drinks.

Trophies and prizes will be presented to the kids who catch the Biggest Fish and Smallest Fish in each age category:

Ages 1 – 3
Ages 4 – 6
Ages 7 – 9
Ages 10-12

Sunday, June 17: Dads Bowl Free at South Bowling Lanes (SAFB)

Dads – Enjoy Father’s Day at the South Lanes with free bowling up to 4 games and free show rental! Sunday from noon to 6 pm.
