This Week’s Event Highlights: July 2-9

Tuesday, July 3: Camp Fire North Texas Pool Ribbon Cutting & Grand Opening (1o-10:30 am)

Come and join us for the Grand Opening Celebration of the new Camp Fire North Texas Pool! The pool will open at 11AM. Be sure to bring your family, friends and a picnic to enjoys some fun in the sun while swimming!

Wednesday, July 4: Old Fashioned 4th of July Celebration & Parade (8:15 am – noon)

The festivities begin with an open registration for the “Most Patriotic” Parade at 8:15 a.m. at the corner of 9th and Ohio. Entry is FREE and First and Second Place Ribbons will be awarded in each of four categories: Children 0-6, Children 7-12, Antique Car, and Specialty.

The parade will begin at 9:00 a.m., following 9th Street from Ohio up the hill to Bluff Street, ending at the Kell House Museum. Spectators are invited to line up along the parade route to cheer on their favorite entries and wave to local dignitaries, Lady Liberty, and Uncle Sam!

After the parade, the Kell House will host an old-fashioned salute to America, complete with the presentation of award winners, the Pledge of Allegiance, a live performance by Misty Posey Music, and more. Then let the games begin! A cake walk, face painting, and yard games are just some of the fun to be had from 9:30 to Noon. Be sure to bring some cash for game tickets as well as pony rides by Ponies2You, and refreshing sno-cones from Kona Ice of NW Texoma!

Wednesday, July 4: 4th in the Falls Concert (4 – 9:30 pm)

The Live Concert is FREE to the public and will take place on the North side of the Kay Yeager Coliseum. People are encouraged to bring blankets or lawn chairs to enjoy the concert. Family friendly activities will also be taking place inside the Ray Clymer Exhibit Hall from 4:00pm-9:30pm. Food and Beverages available for purchase from food trucks and local vendors. No coolers allowed on property, this is a smoke-free family event. Fireworks display to commence approximately 9:30pm.

Wednesday, July 4: City of Wichita Falls 4th of July Celebration & Fireworks (6 – 10 pm)

The City of Wichita Falls is planning a July 4th celebration filled with fun, food and fireworks! “4th in the Falls” will be held on July 4th at the MPEC, 1000 5th St. It will start at 6:00 p.m. Parking and entrance are free.

There will be plenty of activities for the entire family, including:

  • Maskat Shrine Train
  • Zoo 2 You Petting Zoo & Pony Rides
  • Carnival Games
  • Quad-Bungee Jump
  • Inflatable Obstacle Course
  • Clowns
  • Face Painting
  • Magic Shows

There will also be live music and plenty of food.

The fireworks display will begin around 9:15 p.m. over the Wichita River behind the MPEC. Those planning to attend are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets for seating. People are also encouraged to bring a portable radio to tune into patriotic music program that will be synchronized with the show. The program will air on KLUR, 99.9.

“4th in the Falls” is being presented by the City of Wichita Falls and Pride in the Falls.

Wednesday, July 4: City of Burkburnett 4th of July Concert & Fireworks Show (6:30 – 10 pm)

The City of Burkburnett will be celebrating the 4th of July with a free concert and fireworks. There will be 2 bands playing. The opener will be The Chris Shakelford Band and they will play from 6:30-7:30 and the headliner will be Casey Pilgreen and they will take the stage from 8:00-9:30. The fireworks show will begin around 9:30 PM. This is a free event that will take place at the the Friendship Park Amphitheatre. There will also be food vendors on site . Come out bring a blanket and enjoy a night of family fun celebrating the 4th of July.

Thursday, July 5: Turtle Time at RBNC (3 – 4 pm)

Calling all turtle fans! Come see our turtles up close, learn all about how they live, and make some turtles of your own to take home! All materials will be provided, and cost is included with general admission. Free for RBNC members.

Thursday, July 5: After Hours Artwalk (6 – 9 pm)

Hop on the trolley, enjoy local food, drinks, music and ART! Activities and locations vary each month, but check out their Facebook page for details and a map.

Saturday, July 7: YMCA Soap Box Races (9 am – noon)

3 Divisions:

  • Super Stock- Kids ages 7-12- These kids will learn before the races in a practice session to drive and how to FLY down the hill!
  • Super Kids- Special Needs kids- These kids will be in one of our specially designed cars that have a driver, and one of the kids gets to ride along and experience the joy of racing down the hill!
  • Build Your Own- There are only a few rules, so let your imagination run wild!
