This Thursday: Miracle Treat Day & Blood Drive!
I try not to talk TOO much about my job here on the blog, but the truth is we do so many things I feel passionate about, sometimes I just have to share it. This is one of those times. This Thursday (August 2) two REALLY BIG things are happening at my office that you need to know about:
1. Enjoy Guilt-Free Treats to Support Children’s Miracle Network!
Every year, Dairy Queen hosts Miracle Treat Day, which means that for every Blizzard purchased that day, they will donate $1 to our LOCAL Children’s Miracle Network Hospital (which is United Regional).
So, at Texoma Community Credit Union (TCCU), we’re donating an extra $1 for each Blizzard when you participate in our social media matching campaign by:
- Taking a photo with your Blizzard and posting it to Twitter, Instagram and/or Facebook
- Tag our TCCU account in the post (@TexomaCU on Twitter and Instagram)
- Including the hashtags #TCCUMatch and #MiracleTreatDay in your post
- BONUS: TCCU will donate $5 per Blizzard if you take your photo in front of our giant T on Southwest Parkway
My personal note: Yes, as a credit union, we are part of a national organization called Credit Unions for Kids that supports CMN across the country, and that’s a big part of why we do this. But another big part is just how many families we know – neighbors, friends, credit union members, and even our own colleagues – whose children have been saved or benefitted from the services and technology that CMN provides at United Regional. They are truly making a difference. We’ve also had TCCU employees sit on their Development (fundraising) Committee for several years now – I am the current TCCU representative and it has been an eye-opening and awe-inspiring experience. Perhaps I’ll write more about that one later.
2. Save Double the Lives by Donating Blood.
Since you’ll already be at our Southwest Parkway branch to take photos, and fully loaded on carbs, why not take 15-20 minutes and pop into the Texas Blood Institute’s Bloodmobile which will be in the TCCU parking lot from 9 am – 1 pm? You’ll save a life, get a super cute free t-shirt, and a chance to win a $5o gift card.
My personal note on this one: I am TERRIFIED of giving blood. But about two years ago I faced my fear at this very same credit union blood drive. Spoiler: It’s not as bad as I thought. To read all about THAT experience, click here. It’s a good one. Lol.
