Road Trip

This past fall, my family visited Tulsa, Oklahoma, for our son’s birthday. The drive was an easy 3.5 hours. There was not any traffic like you would experience going to Dallas.

This road trip was in the top three of our son’s birthdays. He so enjoyed staying in the hotel. Just being in a new place with a pool and elevator makes everything so much fun for a seven-year-old!

Our two FAVORITE attractions were so great that we plan on returning this coming spring.

The Gathering Place and The Tulsa Zoo were made for families to enjoy nature and have fun doing so.

The Gathering Place is FREE! It is a public 66.5-acre riverfront park that was funded by more than 80 corporate and philanthropic organizations. This park has everything that a kid could ever dream of! From a castle, you and your friends can climb to water areas, maze, play gardens, a sandlot, and of course, AWESOME slides. Here are a few pictures of our little guy enjoying The Gathering Place. (will send in a separate email)

The Tulsa Zoo has similar pricing as the Dallas Zoo. The Tulsa Zoo general admission is $8.00 for children 3-11 and $12.00 for ages 12-64. This Zoo is well maintained, and parking was too easy! It was the weekend before Halloween, and it felt like we had the place to ourselves. Our three favorite exhibits were the African Plains, Chimpanzee Connection, and the Children’s Zoo that features a petting zoo. Also, the safari train and carousel were great additions to the visit. Both were $2 per person.
